Abstract

The principal physical law obtaining in Wondereal is identified as Gravity, more precisely stated as Attraction. One axiom of the law is established by repeated observation: white fabric attracts coffee. An explanation is proposed on the basis of complementary force. White is characterised as an open invisible — a field of nothingness and openness incapable of expressing itself from within itself. Coffee is characterised as possessing outward force: it steams out, spills out, marks, and generates. Attraction between the two is therefore not accidental but structural. Contact is momentary; the record of contact persists through repeated laundering and thus through Time. The observer, wearing all white, declines to resist the law and instead waits for its manifestation, permitting imagination to be painted by the gravitation of things toward one another. A general corollary is stated: Aya leaves the ground only in order to return to it, and orbits by connecting and releasing.

The main physical law in Wondereal is Gravity — or, more precisely, Attraction.

Aya knows one of its axioms through repeated observation: white fabric attracts coffee.

1. Statement of the axiom

Coffee is attracted to white because white is an open invisible, a field of nothingness and openness, unable to express itself from within itself. Coffee is different. Coffee has outward force. It steams out, spills out, leaves a mark, creates something. Coffee is a generative force.

Naturally, they attract.

Whiteunable to express itself from within itself
Coffeeoutward force; steams out, spills out, marks
Coffeegenerative — it creates something

2. Duration of contact

Connection happens for a moment, but it can linger, wash after wash, through Time.

White linen, hem, 17 July 2026. Record of a momentary connection surviving repeated laundering. The field, unable to express itself from within itself, has been written upon by the generative force: a fish at upper left, an octopus at centre right, a spiral shell at lower right, fronds and drifting particulate throughout. No figure was applied by the author. The marks are the law's own handwriting.

Wearing all white, Aya does not resist this law. She waits for it to manifest itself, letting imagination be painted by the gravitation of things toward one another.

3. General corollary

Aya only leaves the ground to return to it. Connecting and releasing, touching and letting go — this is how gravity works for Aya, and how she orbits everything she encounters in Wondereal.

An orbit is not a departure. It is a long return.

Author statement · The garment was not treated prior to observation, and no coffee was administered to it deliberately. Attempts at removal were made in the ordinary manner and are reported as unsuccessful, which the author records as confirmatory rather than regrettable. The author declares no competing interests and one hem still in orbit.
